Clarke Valve™ is seeking a Design Engineer to join their energetic team of engineers at the corporate headquarters located in North Kingstown, RI.

As a Design Engineer you will use specialized software to create drawings & models and maintain engineering records of new and existing products based upon project scope requirements.  This role is part of a project team that is tasked with completing a project from inception to product launch.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all aspects of engineering design and development, from conceptual design backed by detailed calculations and peer design reviews, to prototype fabrication.
  • Create 3D models and manufacturing drawings of valve components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Design Validation Testing: design test fixtures, develop test plans, analyze test data, and prepare test reports.
  • Participate in design reviews and ensure engineering governance is in place.
  • Perform simulations (FEA/CFD) to validate new and existing designs.
  • Work closely with project team members and other company functions to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Ensure components and assemblies adhere to company and customer standards and requirements.
  • Be able to represent the Clarke Valve™ project team, communicating with other internal functions and team members with respect to engineering issues.

Education

At minimum the candidate shall have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Materials Engineering or equivalent.

Job Knowledge & Experience

A qualified candidate will have the following proficiencies:

  • Strong knowledge & experience with SolidWorks 3D CAD software.
  • Working knowledge of drafting standards, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance analysis.
  • Experience creating 3-D models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA), multi-body dynamics analysis, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), or thermal analysis.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., casting, machining, forging) and ability to work with suppliers.

Clarke Valve™ is seeking an Engineering Intern to join their energetic team of engineers at the corporate headquarters located in North Kingstown, RI. This position is an entry-level internship for the Summer of 2019.

As an Engineering Intern at Clarke Valve™ your responsibilities will be to support the engineering department during the design, testing and validation stages of product development. The engineering intern will have the opportunity to develop design skills, help test new concepts and contribute new ideas in an innovative and fast-paced environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist all engineering teams including Design and Development, Advanced Technologies and Testing and Evaluation team on mechanical engineering related studies, designs, specifications, drawings, etc.
  • Identify, recommend and implement solutions to logistics and mechanical problems.
  • Design, procure, and fabricates simple tooling and fixtures.

In this dynamic role, your daily activities will include prototype manufacturing, providing design input for new product development, designing fixtures and test equipment, and ensuring conformance of incoming and outgoing valve parts and assemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Create CNC programs from CAD files using CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks/CAMWorks).
  • Review CAD models, blueprints, sketches, drawings, or sample parts to determine dimensions & tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup & tooling requirements.
  • Design, model, and create fixtures & test equipment.
  • Interact with design engineers and contribute constructive feedback, i.e. Design for Manufacture (DFM).
  • Distinguish between conforming and non-conforming parts through inspection of finished work pieces by referencing specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience using measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, hardness testers, or CMM).
  • Work with manufacturing partners to maintain part quality and develop processes.
  • Lead the assembly team by determining & documenting procedures, sourcing equipment, and designing fixtures. Work with Operations to monitor & control processes.

As a Materials Engineer at Clarke Valve™ your responsibilities will be to support the engineering departments to advise on material selection, analyze failure modes, and provide design recommendations. As a Materials Engineer you will also provide technical input on heat treatments as well as casting procedures and acceptance criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Research and recommend material selection in support of Design & Development.
  • Contribute to Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) as it pertains to materials in support of Design & Development, Test & Evaluation, and Advanced Technologies teams.
  • Expand materials database to provide the best solutions in materials selection.
  • Perform materials testing with various apparatus: hardness tester, microscopes, density
