Responsibilities

  • Work directly with sales channels and customers
  • Perform detailed reviews of customer specifications, providing comments, clarifications and alternatives to customer requirements
  • Prepare technical quotations utilizing sales resources and engineering data
  • Accurately size and select valves and actuators, when required, based on customer supplied data
  • Coordinate with other departments as required to ensure a cost effective, reliable solution is being presented to the client
  • Ensure that pricing developed is accurate and aligned with strategic initiatives to optimize order success rate while minimizing overall business risk
  • Maintain responsibility for ensuring all elements of the quote process are completed on time, with accuracy and required sales approvals
  • Maintain critical information within CRM including, but not limited to: quotations, contacts, updates, account changes and purchase orders
  • Perform initial customer purchase order reviews to ensure accuracy compared to the quotation
  • Hand-off the order to project management and engineering for manufacturing
  • Provide technical training to sales channel via web
  • Travel up to 50%

Education and/or Experience

  • B.S. or M.S. in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in the process control field or related engineering field
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a self-managed team

  • Field application experience preferred

Clarke Valve™ is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join their energetic team of engineers at the corporate headquarters located in North Kingstown, RI.

In this dynamic role, your daily activities will include prototype manufacturing, providing design input for new product development, designing fixtures and test equipment, and ensuring conformance of incoming and outgoing valve parts and assemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Create CNC programs from CAD files using CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks/CAMWorks).
  • Review CAD models, blueprints, sketches, drawings, or sample parts to determine dimensions & tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup & tooling requirements.
  • Design, model, and create fixtures & test equipment.
  • Interact with design engineers and contribute constructive feedback, i.e. Design for Manufacture (DFM).
  • Distinguish between conforming and non-conforming parts through inspection of finished work pieces by referencing specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience using measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, hardness testers, or CMM).
  • Work with manufacturing partners to maintain part quality and develop processes.
  • Lead the assembly team by determining & documenting procedures, sourcing equipment, and designing fixtures. Work with Operations to monitor & control processes.
  • Champion and maintain Lean production methodologies.
  • Promote the problem-solving company culture.
  • Follow the Clarke Valve™ policies and procedures.

Education

At minimum the candidate shall have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology or equivalent.

Job Knowledge & Experience

A qualified candidate will have the following proficiencies:

  • Experience creating 3-D models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Experience in machine tool operation. A strong candidate will have experience with CAD/CAM, CNC programming and operation.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, casting, forging, heat treatment, plastic injection molding, and polymer overmolding.
  • Knowledge of blueprint reading, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Knowledge of hand tools, assembly, and measuring equipment.
  • Ability to competently use Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project).
  • Excellent written and overall communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in both an independent and team environment.

A strong candidate will possess these additional nice-to-have qualifications:

  • Experience using Fanuc Controllers.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC).
  • Experience reviewing or creating First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR).
  • Experience programming and operating a CMM.
  • Understanding of valve industry standards (e.g., ANSI, ASME, API, ISO).
  • Familiarity with valves and actuation used in aerospace and industrial applications.
  • Experience working in an ISO9001 workplace.
  • Good judgment and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with Clarke Valve sales and marketing organization, and in some cases with external parties such as distributors and channel partners
  • Support the development of customer presentations and collateral for use in sales and marketing activities
  • Coordinate with marketing on lead generation, cross-selling, and customer feedback campaigns
  • Conduct independent research to capture and/or validate contact information for prospects and leads who interact with Clarke Valve sales representatives or respond to marketing outreach
  • Work directly in the Clarke Valve customer relationship management (CRM) system
  • Assist sales representatives with data analytics and the generation and review of reports from the CRM
  • Act as the key coordinator and interface between the sales team, and engineering, manufacturing, finance, and other departments as appropriate to support the timely development of quotes for new product orders, and for order status reporting
  • Provide administrative support to Clarke Valve sales representatives, including but not limited to assistance with follow-up communications, scheduling of calls and meetings, and data entry
  • Ensure that purchase orders and other transactional details from the sales process are documented, either in the CRM or other appropriate systems
  • Monitor status of customer orders to ensure that shipments are timely and meet desired customer timeframes
  • Support and maintain the integrity of the data within the CRM

Education and/or Experience

  • B.A. or B.S. required, preferably in business administration, finance, marketing, STEM, or other fields of study that would be relevant to a manufacturing organization
  • Open to recent graduates and candidates with 1-3 years of experience

Responsibilities
As a member of the Clarke Valve team, the Shop Floor Valve Tech is responsible for completing the tasks listed below as required by management and engineering.  As part of the Clarke team, the team member should expect to have flexibility in their role. At times new responsibilities may be given to the employee that are not covered on this list. Conversely, not every task will be required regularly.

  • Assemble valves
  • Comply with ISO 9001 quality management system
  • Perform valve testing (e.g. hydrostatic, seat leakage)
  • Assist in quality inspection of incoming materials, and outgoing finished products
  • Assist with daily/preventative maintenance on shop floor equipment as needed
  • Assist machinist (CNC, lathe, mill, etc…)
