Description 

Clarke Valve is seeking a Drafting Engineer to join their energetic team of engineers at the corporate headquarters located in North Kingstown, RI. 

The Drafting Engineer will use CAD software to create and update drawings & models and maintain engineering records of new and existing products based upon project scope requirements. This role will support the engineering and production teams by creating and maintaining product specific models and drawings to be used with the supply chain. 

Responsibilities 

• Create 3D models and manufacturing drawings of valve components and assemblies using SolidWorks. 

• Create 3D models and manufacturing drawings which represent cast configurations of new and existing finish machined component models and drawings using SolidWorks. 

• Work closely with the Quality department to approve or reject inspected components and make updates to the models and drawings as needed. 

• Follow Clarke Valve internal ECO (Engineering Change Order) process to make and document changes. 

• Work closely with project team members to ensure compliance with project requirements. 

• Participate in design reviews and ensure engineering governance is in place. 

• Ensure components and assemblies adhere to company and customer standards and requirements.

Education

• Strong knowledge & experience with SolidWorks 3D CAD software. 

• Working knowledge of drafting standards, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) and tolerance analysis.

SUMMARY

Coordinates with multiple departments to develop, implement and manage a cohesive supply chain strategy designed to achieve company goals related to AML approvals, profits, organization specific KPI’s performance. Responsibilities

Specific Duties:

  • Maintain Supplier AML

Education

  • Machining (CNC), foundry, metallurgy certifications.

A suitable candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • 7+ years of supply chain experience.
  • Proven track record in procurement techniques and practices, including international sourcing.

As a Shop Floor Technician, you will support efforts across Clarke Valve’s production & engineering teams in the areas of production operations, manufacturing, supply chain, testing, and quality control. 

Responsibilities 

• Inventory management – Prepare assembly kits, adjust inventory levels, conduct inventory audits. 
• Assemble and test Dilating Disk assemblies using hand tools, torque tools, and hydrostatic test equipment. 
• Perform valve automation/actuation. Review documentation, mount units, wire units, and calibrate with specialized tools and software. 
• Complete conventional machining tasks to be performed using a milling machine, lathe, etc. 
• Setting up tools and fixtures in CNC equipment.

Job Summary

The Senior Buyer Planner is responsible for efficiently procuring goods and services, including finished goods, raw materials, equipment, tools, parts and supplies for the business and planning and scheduling the production schedule. This position reports to the Supply Chain Manager and in coordination with multiple departments including Production, Quality, and Sales.

Responsibilities

Specific Duties:

  • Plan materials requirements and place purchase orders from outside suppliers to support production schedules and new product launches, with increased complexity and volume.
  • Negotiate pricing and delivery.
  • Work with the supplier to ensure materials are made to the proper specifications.
  • Develop, maintain, and coordinate the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and production plan in coordination with the Operations production team.
  • Manage issues preventing execution of the MPS and production plan. Issues include but are not limited to, non-conforming materials or processes, material or equipment availability.
  • Analyze resource availability, develop short and mid-range capacity plans with manufacturing teams, and lead teams to ensure plans are achieved.
  • Utilize the ERP to optimize workflow, schedule planning and procurement.
  • Manage workflow progress, including working with production and other supporting departments to ensure production plans are met.
  • Create and process purchase orders to vendors in a timely manner as to allow for the production schedule to be met according to the demands of production.
  • Manage inter-vendor material transfers and material flows.
  • Expedite purchase orders as required.
  • Manage acquisition of equipment as required in coordination with Operations team.
  • Establish and maintain gross inventory targets. Includes developing action plans to minimize inventory exposure and for scrapping or mitigating excess and obsolete parts based on business information.

  • Work with Quality Leader to discuss with vendors non-conforming, defective, or unacceptable goods or services with personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of conflict and implement an acceptable solution, replacement, and preventive controls.
  • Interacts with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedules.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to meet goals and expectations regarding flow of materials through the operation.
  • Develop and direct the implementation of policies and procedures for procuring goods and services.
  • Meet or exceed metrics associated with product availability, inventory to plan/inventory turns, raw material inventory value and on-time fill rate as it pertains to material availability.

As a Test Engineer, you will support efforts across Clarke Valve’s testing, design, sales, marketing, and R&D teams as it relates to the Dilating Disk control valve product line.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in defining control valve test strategies, creating test plans, methods, and execution activities.
  • Maintain, organize, and review documentation associated with the testing department (test procedures/test datasheets/calibration records/installation practices).
  • Develop LabVIEW code – to communicate with equipment, process a wide array of information, and have warnings triggered off events and/or time.
  • Create control valve test programs that collect sufficient data to characterize control valves, both Clarke Valve products and competitive products.
  • Collect test data, analyze test results, and guide failure analysis. Create reports from test program results.
  • Design testing arrangements and fixtures to complete test programs.
  • Setup test program equipment and piping systems to ensure accuracy of testing results and conformity to international standards and/or customer requirements.
  • Apply first principles thinking and scientific methodologies to product design in order to identify risks and failure modes. Based on this analysis, design and build mechanical test setups and develop adequate test methodologies.
  • Participate in engineering design reviews, work with design engineers on test programs.
  • Create 3D models and manufacturing drawings of parts and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Work with vendors to specify and procure new test equipment. Manage equipment acceptance testing.
  • Assist with production orders as needed.
  • Support CFD, FEA, and COMSOL analyses with test programs, both in house and at third parties.
  • Communicate with suppliers to address challenges and keep projects on schedule and budget.
  • Be able to represent the Clarke Valve project team, communicating with other internal functions and team members with respect to engineering issues.
  • Follow the Clarke Valve policies and procedures.

Education

At minimum, the candidate shall have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.

  • Experience of working with various types of instrumentation (e.g., RTD’s, Thermocouples, Accelerometers, Pressure Transducers) and actuators (pneumatic, electrical, etc.).
  • Ability to interpret international control valve standards and customer requirements to setup test programs efficiently.
  • Proficiency with data analysis software (Excel, Minitab, etc.).
  • Proficiency with LabVIEW.
  • Working knowledge of drafting standards, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance analysis.
  • Ability to work in a 5S/6S environment.
  • Capable of setting tasks that will achieve the project goals and are completed on time.
  • Organization and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities.
  • Have an open mind and be flexible to changing requirements.

A strong candidate will possess these additional nice-to-have qualifications:

  • Knowledge of creating and maintaining a database.
  • Knowledge of how a Phase Gate process works within an organization is desirable.
  • Understanding of valve industry standards (e.g., ANSI, ASME, B16.34, B16.10, API, ANSI, ISO).
  • Familiarity with valves and actuation used in aerospace and industrial applications.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001.

Computer Skills

SolidWorks (CAD, Simulation, PDM, CAM), LabVIEW, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint). Knowledge of COMSOL & CFD a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to effectively use a PC, keyboard, and mouse.
  • Occasionally squat, kneel, bend, twist, and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Work in an industrial environment wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
