Clarke Valve, a company with the most advanced product offering in the industrial valve space, is currently seeking an energetic, self-motivated, highly driven, customer centric Petroleum Application Engineer to join their Sales team.  This Application Engineer will be directly involved with technical support, commercial reviews, pricing and overall customer satisfaction.  The technical evaluation will include, but not be limited to: review of customer specifications, sizing based on customer process conditions and communications with the sales channel and customer base.  Individual must have ability to be responsive, attention to detail and awareness of relevant codes and standards, as applicable.  In addition, must be able to work independently and as part of a team driving customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with sales channels and customers
  • Perform detailed reviews of customer specifications, providing comments, clarifications and alternatives to customer requirements
  • Prepare technical quotations utilizing sales resources and engineering data
  • Accurately size and select valves and actuators, when required, based on customer supplied data
  • Coordinate with other departments as required to ensure a cost effective, reliable solution is being presented to the client
  • Ensure that pricing developed is accurate and aligned with strategic initiatives to optimize order success rate while minimizing overall business risk
  • Maintain responsibility for ensuring all elements of the quote process are completed on time, with accuracy and required sales approvals
  • Maintain critical information within CRM including, but not limited to: quotations, contacts, updates, account changes and purchase orders
  • Perform initial customer purchase order reviews to ensure accuracy compared to the quotation
  • Hand-off the order to project management and engineering for manufacturing
  • Provide technical training to sales channel via web
  • Travel up to 50%

Education and/or Experience

  • B.S. or M.S. in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in the process control field or related engineering field
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a self-managed team
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities
  • Field application experience preferred
  • Proficient in Office applications
  • Prefer past experience with using a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tool
  • Excellent written and overall communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills

This full-time role reports to the Vice President of Engineering. The Design Engineer will use specialized software to create drawings/models and maintain engineering records of new and existing products based upon project scope requirements. This role is part of a project team that is tasked with completing a project, from inception to product launch. The Design Engineer works closely with other project team members, such as senior engineers, contract engineers, and a project/program manager.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Follow the Clarke Valve policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with the Clarke Valve EHS management system.
• Be able to represent the Clarke Industrial Engineering project team, communicating with other internal functions and team members with respect to engineering issues.
• Comply with Clarke Valve’s ISO9001 program.
• Construct prototypes and confirm design requirements through design reviews.
• Perform physical testing on engineering prototypes.
• Ensure components and assemblies adhere to company and customer standards and requirements.
• Works closely with project team members and other company functions to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Can work within a team that is responsible for completing a major project that has wide reaching company implications.

Job Knowledge / Education / Experience

Bachelor’s Degree with relevant experience in aerospace or industrial valves.
Skilled in the use of SolidWorks 3D CAD software & Microsoft Project.
Knowledge of how a Phase Gate process works within an organization is desirable. Understanding of how valve parts are made (e.g., castings, machining, forgings) and ability to work with sub suppliers who make those parts.
Understanding of valve industry standards (e.g., ANSI, ASME, B16.34, B16.10, API, ANSI, ISO).

Product Knowledge

Valves and actuation used in aerospace and industrial applications.

Computer Skills
